Received VM on cell. I returned the call at the 336 number and spoke to a live person who knew my name, address and zip. The person told me there is a 26.72 miscalculation that you now owe to the IRS. I said that I know nothing about filing taxes and that my wife is better suited to understand the problem. What caught the person off guard is when I asked her to give me the direct line number to call back. She said it should be on my cell. I said go ahead and just tell me your number so I can write it down. She gave me a 202-858-7265. Wrong I said. Then she said a 303 number should be on your phone. Wrong again. She ended up hanging up on me.

This call leaves messages, (incomplete...cut off at beginning), and if you do answer you are directed to call that same number. The answering party claims to be an IRS agent, gives you a badge number, and tells you that your taxes were completed fraudulently. They persist, frightening you with legal action, including home loss, fines, and jail time. Then they ask you how you want to handle the situation, giving you 2 options: pay now, or you can get legal defense and go to federal court. I called my local police department. I was assured it was a scam and told to never answer unknown numbers, but to let those go to voicemail instead. BEWARE!

Just got a fraud call from these scammers. This will be the second time today. Around an hour apart from each call.. Visited the IRS sites and site says they will never call you directly for sensitive information like that. They will first notify you by mail multiple times before ever engaging in a phone conversation.
