One of the other people who posted here said they called back and got a political committee of some kind. If that"s true then as I understand it that organization is exempt from the federal do-not-call laws and is not required to "not call"...though it seems kind of stupid on their part to aggravate people I assume they"re trying to get to agree with their politics. This is a political action fund group that seeks to educate people on conservative issues, the problems with Obama and raise funds to continue to do both!!! I called that number back and you get a recording that explains that. You press #3 to be put on the Do No Call List and enter your 10 digit number, which I did. The recording repeats the number you entered and if correct, says have a great day & hangs up. It will be interesting to see if I receive any more calls from them. MOST political phone calls are generated not at the source of the person who is on the other end of the phone talking to you so they really do not know your phone number or who they called! I know because I have volunteered to make such calls myself!!! We do track how many "non-answered" and/or answering machine calls there are and they do go back in the "circle" to be called again!!!
HOWEVER - there is such a thing as too many calls!!!

When I answered the phone, like the others comment here, they hung up. I called the number & got a recorded message from a conservative agency, then given the option to Press 1 for more information, 2 to connect to HQ & 3 to be added to the do not call list. I pressed one & was on hold. FOR THIRTEEN MINUTES. The first thing the person said when they finally connected was, "Would you like to make a pledge?" That would be a no. I told her she had some nerve to have me on hold for 13 minutes & then ask for money & to take me off the call list...and actually do it, unlike the others here who"ve asked the same thing only to be called again.

They must legally stop calling when your ask for your number to be on a do not call list with them. If they continue they are breaking the law and you can force action. Next time make sure you tell them the call is recorded and tell them again not to call. I will bet the moon they stop calling if they even believe it was recorded but you must in that recording inform them because otherwise the law will have you for recording illegally without consent. Its crazy what we have to do abiding by the law and trying to protect ourselves yet the criminals are given every opportunity to not be held accountable. Cross your T"s and dot your I"s. The law will be on your side. I have a machine that allows calls I want and discards all others. I don"t have these issues. I found a way around them. LOL
