Just got the same call about a formal complaint being filed again automated name was inserted. I don"t even acknowledge these types of calls because they are scams. One did my mother the same way, and she paid them because they said they were looking for my sister. I told her to refer those types of calls to me and don"t answer them. Received the same message as everyone else, today and yesterday.. A formal complaint had been filed against my roommate. His name was automated. Called them back. They said I had taken out a loan from a payday place (they named like 5 LOL) 5 years ago but referenced an address I hadn"t lived at for over a decade. They called themselves GAFS but when you look into the GAFS group there is a disclaimer at the bottom of their site which says the following:

Called leaving a pre recorded message and then another recording breaks in twice to say your name or whomever, they are looking for. This time, it was a John Lewis, not Gerald Lewis. When calling number back, automation ask for party extension or to press 0 for next associate. It"s against the law for them to call and leave such messages. The tactic is to scare you into making a payment arrangement and if you go with the flow and agree, then, they can try to use that against you. Of course, they"ll say they are contacting authorities, to try to get you to call and sometimes, these scams will involve another caller telling you they have papers to serve you and there is still time to stop process, all bull c**p! Number 1, you can"t tell someone they are contacting authorities, nor, serving papers, these practices are not legal, Number 2, if someone is legit, they must follow the law and the process that"s set in place, So, simply, your not going to be arrested, nobody is going to come to your residence or place of work, you can"t do that. You will be served properly and that means a sheriff or an authorized legal processor and your given time to respond back, otherwise, the threats scammers say, is nothing. These fools can not produce evidence, nor, do they offer to send documents or proof of what they are telling you, also, sometimes they"ll act as an attorney and they are not, by law, no attorney can contact you by phone and either demand something or threaten action against you. Once again, an attorney can"t serve you in the first place, it"s either Sheriff or Authorized Legal Processor. Once, years, and years ago, someone did the same to me, it went to such an extreme, I was contacted by someone delivering papers to me, they would call every few minutes and will look at a map and tell you things to indicate they are getting close to your residence and will see you soon, never happened and against the law, to do such!
