I had a room for rent on craigslist, and this person sent me a cashier"s check (which I didn"t cash), then 4 days after I received it, she needed most of the money back ( ,130) for moving costs.
When I attempted to cash the cashier"s check (without depositing it in my bank account) they came back and told me they wouldn"t advise me depositing it in my bank account or cashing it because "the numbers weren"t right".
Then I send a text message to the 605-655-8506 number saying to leave me alone and to never contact me again and that she was a scam, and she proceeded to use obscenities.
When I called the number on the check (which belonged to Family Security Credit Union in Decatur AL), they didn"t act at all surprised and told me there was nothing they could do after I told them to put a note some where stating that they have fraudulent checks floating around.
Then the operator proceeded tell me to call a Family Security Credit Union in my area, which I didn"t see the point in doing, being that the check was torn out of one of their books and had their contact info on it.
BEWARE OF SCAMMERS AND NOT MEETING WITH THEM IN PERSON FIRST!!! BIG RED FLAG.
